I work with paper and pencil, because of their tactility and immediacy. In 2021 I began experimenting with artist books, including studying bookbinding under Jamie Thome of Hive Book Arts in 2024. Using both representation and abstraction as well as text, I explore the world through a filter of art, testing my ability to see. How one thing relates to another in the visual plane or in the fantasy that is a representational drawing. How a word repeated becomes a prayer. How a story changes when you flip it on its head, or rewrite it from someone else’s viewpoint. How the use of abstraction can shatter expectations. The power of the image. The power of the word.
